The book is about a boy named Thomas who wakes up in a place called the Glade which he has never seen before, and is surrounded by juvenile places, people, and events that he is completely unfamiliar with. Thomas doesnt remember much about before he woke up there, and at first he feels entirely and uncomfortable with his new surroundings. This approach of being introduced into something you are completely unfamiliar with is a common feeling in the life of a teenager, and with current twenty-four hours technology it is becoming more and more difficult to adapt to new surroundings and become introduced to new places and people.
